Heavy Rotation: BJ the Chicago Kid f. Kendrick Lamar - "His Pain II"

"His Pain II" is easily one of the realest songs I've heard in a while. I've been meaning to post it since I first heard it in January, but I'm just now getting around to it while listening to BJ the Chicago Kid's album, Pineapple Now-Laters. I haven't listened to the entire album all the way through yet, but I expect nothing but dope soulful music. Listen to "His Pain II" below, and check out SoulCulture's review of the album with previews of tracks from his album as well. Pineapple Now-Laters is now available on iTunes.

Heavy Rotation - "I'm on Fire" - Ludacris f. Big KRIT

Ludacris has recruited Big KRIT to be featured on a song from his upcoming mixtape, 1.21 Gigawatts: Back to the First Time, that will drop November 15th. The heavy bass beat features a dope guitar and vocal sample from Minnie Ripperton's "Every Time He Comes Around."  I haven't been able to stop playing it since my first listen. Download/Listen to the song below.

Heavy Rotation - "Glory" - Ryan Leslie

Since I graduated, I've been catching up on a lot new music from the last couple of months and was glad to see a single from the very talented singer/writer/producer Ryan Leslie. Although I expected a song similar to "Diamond Girl" or "You're Not My Girl", Ryan instead raps over electric guitar riffs and choral vocals in the debut single. Either way its still dope. Listen/download "Glory" and peep the official music video below. Look out for his next studio album, Les Is More, due in stores on July 4th.

Heavy Rotation - "Base For Your Face" - Lil B, Jean Grae, and Phonte (prod. by 9th Wonder)

Ever since I first heard this track a couple of days ago, I have not been able to get it out of my head. We all know Lil B isn't known as a lyricist, but his flow is decent on this one.

Heavy Rotation - Mike Bigga "Burn"

One of my favorite new tracks comes from the too often slept-on, Atlanta rap veteran Killer Mike (Mike Bigga). I've been a fan of his ever since I first heard him on "Snappin' & Trappin'" from Outkast's Stankonia....
